Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Group
Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
